La visita guiada «Patrimonio de la Humanidad» de Turismo de Segovia parte del Acueducto y explica la ciudad hasta llegar a la Plaza Mayor deteniéndose en puntos críticos y finalmente termina en el Alcázar. Es definitivamente la mejor forma de que conozcan lo más importante de Segovia quienes tienen poco tiempo. Les cuento mi experiencia.
El tour empezó explicando las maravillas que esconde la historia del Acueducto Romano en la Plaza de la Artillería. Después pasamos por un mirador con vistas a la montaña conocida como “la mujer muerta”, desde donde el guía nos explicó la historia de la «Casa de los Picos» (histórico edificio con muros puntiagudos que hoy alberga la Escuela de Artes), que se encuentra muy cerca de dicho mirador.
A continuación llegamos a la preciosa plaza de Medina del Campo, donde conviven una imponente estatua de Juan Bravo y una de las iglesias más bonitas que he visto (aunque sólo sea por fuera) de Segovia: San Martín. Más adelante paramos delante del Convento del Corpus Christi (antigua Sinagoga Mayor de la ciudad) donde hay unas monjitas que venden pasteles de diferentes comunidades religiosas (así se ayudan unas a otras). Me encantaría entrar un día ahí para visitarlo… ¡antes del tour no sabía de su existencia!

Una vez en la Plaza Mayor pudimos visitar la Catedral por dentro y fue realmente bellísima. ¡Hasta hice una amiga ahí del tour! Más adelante seguimos por las calles antiguas hasta llegar al Alcázar donde también pudimos entrar. Allí ya había entrado, pero siempre es una experiencia encantadora poder entrar al castillo de la Cenicienta y disfrutar las vistas que hay desde allí. En el mismo Alcázar es donde termina el tour, dejando tiempo para disfrutar de las vistas de las montañas y del resto de atractivos rincones del castillo. Les invito a llevar a quienes les visiten o a hacerlo ustedes mismos, ¡vale la pena!
Aqueduct – Cathedral – Alcazar trip
The Tourism of Segovia’s office offers a «Patrimonio de la Humanidad» tour that begins at the Aqueduct and explains the city as you make your way to Plaza Mayor stopping at interesting spots and ends at the Alcazar. It’s definitely the best way to see the most important parts of Segovia when you don’t have a lot of time. I’d like to tell you about my experience.
The tour began explaining the wonders the Segovian Aqueduct hides by the Plaza de la Artilleria. It continued passing through the “dead woman’s” mountain and the «Casa de los Picos» (historic building with pointy walls) where what is now the school of Arts is. We then went to the Medina del Campo Plaza where there’s a statue of Juan Bravo and where you can see one of the most beautiful churches of Segovia from outside, San Martín. Later we passed by the Convent of Corpus Christi, very near the Plaza Mayor where our guide, called Alcazar, explained nuns lived in this monastery and sold pastries to help each other with other sisters’ communities. I’d love to go back and visit it inside since I hadn’t known about its existence before this tour.
Once we were at Plaza Mayor we got the chance to visit the Cathedral from the inside and continued through the old roads until we got to the Alcazar where we luckily were allowed to go in as well. I’d been inside before but it’s always a great experience to go back inside Cinderella’s castle and enjoy the view from there. The tour finishes in the Alcazar but they allow you to stay as much as you want inside enjoying the sights of the mountains from the terraces and seeing the most interesting corners of the castle. I encourage you to take whoever visits you in Segovia or go do it yourselves, it’s totally worth it!
