Vivo con 11 personas en la misma casa y aunque a veces sea un desastre (imaginad a 12 personas cocinando, pisando el mismo suelo, haciendo ruido a diferentes horas), a mí me encanta. Cada uno somos de un país y por ello las diferencias culturales muchas veces son enormes.
Hace unos días fue mi cumpleaños y el mejor regalo que me pudieron hacer fue cocinar para mí. ¡Ya empiezan a conocerme! Yuko es de Japón y me hizo una tarta de sushi; Abdul es árabe e hizo “Sfiha”; Kasper es danés y preparó “Tarteletter”; mis amigos franceses una quiche; y Sarah es británica e hizo la mejor tarta de chocolate y naranja del mundo. ¡Sin olvidar que el resto se encargó de la bebida y picoteo, claro! Os dejo fotillos para que a vosotros también se os haga la boca agua.
Como me sentía en deuda, decidí que teníamos que hacer un pequeño tour por los diferentes restaurantes y bares españoles que hay en la ciudad. Yo también tenía que compartir un poquito de mi cultura con ellos. Pasamos una mañana entera poniéndonos las botas a base de tapas. Me dejaron al mando y escogí lo más típico de la carta: jamón serrano con melón, gambas al ajillo, patatas bravas, una tabla de quesos, croquetas, huevos a la Riojana, y un largo etcétera.
No sé por qué pero al menos en Aarhus es típico encontrarte stands con postales y folletos informativos en los baños. Así que seleccioné unas cuantas postales y algunos folletos sobre Segovia y su gastronomía y los dejé repartidos por los diferentes sitios que visitamos. En unos días alguien en Dinamarca podrá tener en su casa un Acueducto o una imagen de la puerta de San Andrés.
He de decir que fue una experiencia increíble, pero los precios aquí son una locura. Con solo lo que pagó uno de nosotros podríamos haber probado toda la carta de tapas de cualquier bar de Segovia. ¡Uno no sabe lo que tiene hasta que lo echa de menos!
I live with 11 people in the same house and although sometimes it is a complete disaster, (imagine 12 people cooking, stepping on the same floor and making noises at all hours), I love it. All of us are from a different country and thus the cultural differences are often huge.
A few days ago it was my birthday and the best present they could give me was cooking for me – they are getting to know me well! Yuko is from Japan and she cooked a sushi cake; Abdul is Arabic and made «Sfiha»; Kasper is Danish and he prepared «Tarteletter»; my French friends brought a quiche; and Sarah is British and baked the best chocolate and orange cake in the world. Not forgetting that the others were in charge of the snacks and drinks, of course! I’m leaving some pictures here to make your mouth water too…
As I felt deeply indebted to them, I decided that we had to do a little tour around the different Spanish restaurants and bars in the city. I also had to share a bit of my culture with them. We spent the whole morning eating like a horse with tapas. They left me in charge and I chose the most typical dishes of the menu: serrano ham with melon, garlic shrimps, spicy potatoes, a Spanish cheese board, croquettes, Riojan eggs and many others.
I don’t know why but in Aarhus it is quite common to find stands with postcards and informative brochures in the toilets. So for this reason I selected some of the ones about Segovia and it’s gastronomy and was able to leave them in the different places we visited. In a few days someone from Denmark will have a postcard of Segovia’s aqueduct in their house.
It must be said that although it was an incredible experience, the prices here are insane. With the money only one of us spent, all of us could have tried something in every bar in Segovia. You don’t know what you have until you miss it!
